Definition
: device used for carrying goods or passenger from one floor to another in
building.
Types :
1. Direct acting hydraulic lift &Direct acting hydraulic lift :
- Consists of ram sliding in fixed cylinder & cage as shown in fig.
- Liquid exerts force on ram that raises cage to required height.
2. Suspended hydraulic lift :-
- Modified form of direct acting hydraulic lift
- Consists of sliding ram, cage, fixed cylinder and two set of pulleys
- Pressure exerted on liquid causes movable pulley to move left, & that pulls up the cage to required height
Application:
§Direct lift is
widely used for carrying heavy loads with great ease.
§In the form of
passenger lift, service lifts.
§For lifting
and proper positioning.
