• Gravity lift Piston water Pump:

It is based on simple concept: Fill a bucket of water about 4 feet off ground and let the weight push a piston down inside the cylinder that is filled with water. The water will be forced through pipe and pushed upwards. Two check valves are needed, one to allow water come in the system and the second to keep the pumped water from returning into the system when the piston is refilling.

A solar-powered pump is a pump running on electricity generated by photovoltaic panels or the radiated thermal energy available from collected sunlight as opposed to grid electricity or diesel run water pumps. • Spiral tube water pump:

A spiral tube water wheel is a method of pumping water by using an undershot water wheel which has a scoop connected to a spiral tube. As the wheel turns the scoop will alternatively introduce either water or air into the spiral tube. The pressure generated from the column of water introduced by the scoop is added to the pressure from previous scoops and so as the wheel turns it will increase the water pressure with every turn of the spiral. These wheels have only one moving part and have been known to pump water with no maintenance for several years.

• Hydraulic ram pump:

A hydraulic ram, or hydram, is a cyclic water pump powered by hydropower. It takes in water at one "hydraulic head" (pressure) and flow rate, and outputs water at a higher hydraulic head and lower flow rate. The device uses the water hammer effect to develop pressure that allows a portion of the input water that powers the pump to be lifted to a point higher than where the water originally started. The hydraulic ram is sometimes used in remote areas, where there is both a source of low-head hydropower and a need for pumping water to a destination higher in elevation than the source. In this situation, the ram is often useful, since it requires no outside source of power other than the kinetic energy of flowing water.
