Dynamic Force Exerted By Fluid Jet

Dynamic force:
The force exerted by virtue of fluid motion is called a "Dynamic force".

Fluid Jet:
Is a stream of fluid issuing from a nozzle with a high velocity and hence a high kinetic energy.
Force exerted can be evaluated using  Impulse-Momentum
principle.
Dynamic force applied = Rate of change of momentum.
F= m*dv/dt.

Or F= m/t (v2-v1)
Or F=Qρ (v2-v1)
Where Q is the rate of flow and the density ρ.

IMPACT OF FREE JET

  • STATIONARY
  • MOVING
  • FLAT
  • CURVED

Turbo machines:
Where mechanical work is done by the
fluid by dynamic action between fluid and rotating system of
blades.
Examples    water, steam, gas turbines,
Pump, fans, blowers, etc..

APPLICATION
Water jet cutting for metal, glass, composites.
Turbo machines like pump, compressor, etc.
Recreational use. Water jet pack, jet skiing.
